Localization Discussion

Please use the localization mailing list or localization forum for discussions on Spicebird localization.

Reporting Problems with Your Locale

If you find a problem with the translation of Spicebird in your locale, please report it in the project issue tracker, under "Spicebird Localizations" product under your locale component or the "Default" component.

Contributing: Joining/Starting a Team

If you seek to contribute to Spicebird localization, the first thing to do is to check if there is a team already working on your locale for Spicebird at the localizations teams page to join hands with them. Otherwise, add yourself to the page (this is team registration process) and proceed to localize.

There are two ways you can do localization. Using a web based translation system or off-line (in the manner Mozilla products are localized).

Web Based Translation

  • Create an account and login to BabelZilla.org.
  • Read this announcement.
  • Send a private message in the BabelZilla board to Fenian asking him to load the translations of Thunderbird for your locale (so that most of the work is done).
  • Head over to BabelZilla WTS.
  • Register yourself for your locale and start translating.
  • When you are done send an email to sunil at synovel dot com.

Offline Translation

Tutorial

See the tutorial on how to create a new localization or update an existing locale off-line.

Submitting Your Localization

Please post your finished localization on the project issue tracker by creating a bug under the "Default" component of "Spicebird Localizations" product. Please submit only a zip of the l10n/locale directory and not the language pack.

Applying for an SVN Account

After a review and initial commit your localization, you may apply for an SVN account to maintain your localization. For this, please raise a bug asking for SVN account under the "Administration" product, "Default" component.
